Choosing a life of celebrity has become akin to choosing to live in a glass house. The public wants know how celebrities dress, what they eat, where they go, what kind of car they drive, and most of all, what is really happening in their lives behind closed doors. Society over time seems to have developed an unhealthy obsession with every aspect of celebrity life.
In any society, if there is a demand, someone will usually step up to meet that demand. Authors write tell-all books and the paparazzi will go to great lengths to capture that perfect picture of some unexpecting celeb caught in an embarrassing situation. While many in the entertainment world may rely on the paparazzi to keep their faces in the limelight, that limelight can often be a two edged sword. Having the photographers snapping photos of a celeb on the red carpet can boost their star appeal, but no celeb really wants their photo taken after they have crashed their Mercedes while driving under the influence.
Celebrities are expected to be glamorous and professional at all times or be subjected to the magnifying glass of public scrutiny for any misdeeds. Being famous today means that every aspect of celeb life is open to the public eye. Even private phone conversations are not truly private.
